Stem Cell Research is Immoral

Now you may wonder why I think such a thing due to my 'religious' bashing of the Christian Right? My stance on this issue has nothing to do with heaven vs. hell morals, just plain and simple human morals. The bottom line with this type of research is, we are experimenting on human beings without consent or care. We are using, a conceivably viable human being and either destroying it or changing it to suit a desired purpose. Many people consider destroying an embryo similar to abortion; however, I think this is a poor example. Abortion is a choice by the mother to respectfully (as respectfully as possible) end the life of the embryo/fetus inside of her. If anyone reading this has ever worked in any biology lab, the things we work with or "destroy" are usually not done very kindly or respectfully. Another problem, abortion is one embryo, one mother, one choice. Stem cell research would require thousands (maybe even millions before it's scientifically panned/proved), conceivably thousands of donors, and conceivably 100's of loopholes to go straight from this to human cloning (which is even more immoral in my book but thats not a talk for now).

Another point, George Bush denying funding for stem cell research does NOT mean that this type of research is NOT being done in America. It just means that Federal Money will not go to support studies like this. Well, if the big Pharma companies in America thought this was the way to go and they could make a profit from it, they are TOTALLY ALLOWED TO PERFORM STEM CELL RESEARCH. In fact, many of these companies are already performing the research. So what may I ask, is the big deal then? It just gives everyone a chance to attack one of the few things I agree with GW for.

The drive to survive and reproduce are the strongest two human instincts. I don't think we should take certain steps to achieve these goals though. If a doctor told me I would have to eat my sister's left arm to cure me from a tumor in my kidney, I would punch the doctor in his face and tell him to get the leeches off my chest and I'm outta here; however, there are people who would eat their own sister's arm to survive. Stem cell research is a very young science; but just like snake oil, at the moment, it promises ALOT more than it has ever delivered. People can grow them, great, but NO one knows if they can make a kidney, repair nerves, or even be able to control their growth! As a scientist, I have not one study that proves (REPRODUCABLY FUCKO'S) it can cure anything in humans. If we are so into this stem cell crap, why don't we just devote all of our money into adult stem cell research which is not so ethically shakey. Bone marrow cells can also differentiate into a variety of cells. Why don't we just take cells from people and experiment on them? One patient, one cell line, one choice, easy! But you won't hear about that on CNN or FUX's News because it doesn't SELL DA PAEPAH'S. EMBRYONIC stem cell research is and should be unethical no matter what the cures are. We are taking viable humans and destroying them for the sake of other humans and that is wrong in every sense. The day we start experimenting on humans without a choice, without care, and basically for pure exploitation, I'm moving to Tattoine.

Episode III.... I guess more "I" 's makes it better

Well, besides the fact I can't figure out which acting school Haydn Christansen comes from (Exhibit A) or ( Exhibit B), the movie wasn't bad at all. The action scenes and the scenery were beautiful. Yoda actually looks like a real organism instead of some stupid fucking CGI muppet. The biggest problem with the movie is Padme. In a world of robots, space ships, and overall supreme technology, the whole plot hinges on her dying in child birth!!!!! It's good to see a problem that bothered us when we worked with stone tools still bothers people of supreme technology. Oh, now your going to tell me that she died because she has no will to live..... BULL SHIT. If they can strap metal onto someone who just got melted by A FUCKING VOLCANO, they can pop some paxil into that bitch and make her better. If it works for every fat depressed bitch on our planet, I'm sure it will work there too.

Some funny parts of the movie begin early but the best part has to be the "Neverland Ranch" scene. It involves Emperor Palpatine and the soon to be Darth Vader in his office. I call it the Neverland Ranch scene because I'm sure this is the kind of persuasion MJ uses to stick fingers in little boys poop shoots. His whole dialogue made me want to shield children from him... creepy.

Back to how much Haydn Christansen sucks (if I spelled it wrong, fuck you I don't care). This has to be the most epically horrible casting job in the history of time. Is there a more highly anticipated part out there than this??? How did they give it to this mongoloid? He has NEGATIVE emotion. He is becoming the Dark Lord himself and the best acting he can do is a mix between Ben Stein and every math teacher I ever had. Did he have an audition??? I would them rather cast ALF in the fucking role, at least he is more charismatic. Don't lie, you want to see the Vader mask with a big ALF nose too. Well, I guess it does fit Lucas' incredibly dull dialogue.

Anyway, a credit to Lucas, he did manage to stop the train wreck that was the last two movies (i.e. stealing scenes from Gladiator, Titanic, and a love story complex enough for readers of Highlights magazine). The movie is actually good and was a fitting closing to the saga. Now I have to go drink a beer to wash the image of middle aged balding men having a lightsaber duel in the theater out of my mind. Go see it.

p.s. Haydn Christansen sucks el grande dong.

Christians = Irony

Oh Kansas, good for nothing state. Corn, inbred people, and being able to pedal once on a bicycle and coast from border to border is about all this state is good for. Now, a great debate is arising in their department of education. CNN reports that the Christian "right" government wants to knock evolution out of the class room. There are some extremely funny parts of this article. My personal favorite has to be this next excerpt.

"Some evolution detractors say that the belief that humans, animals and organisms evolved over long spans of time is inconsistent with Biblical teachings that life was created by God. The Bible's Old Testament says that God created life on Earth including the first humans, Adam and Eve, in six days.

Detractors also argue that evolution is invalid science because it cannot be tested or verified and say it is inappropriately being indoctrinated into education and discouraging consideration of alternatives. "

Yes, read it again just to make sure you didn't suffer an anurism from reading something so dumb. They knock evolution "theory" (because that is what it is and theory's are open to change) is invalid because it can't be tested. MMmmmmmmm well doesn't that put us in a pickle. Unless Doc Emmit Brown really has a Delorean with Jumpin Jiggawatt power, how can YOU prove that a man with a grey beard created the world in 6 days. Sounds like a little bit of invalid science to me as well! So let me get this straight. A book, started by men around 2500 BC who heard this from a burning bush is valid science. Clearly, the years we have spent expanding our knowledge of our world through the scientific method was a gargantuan waste of time.

I don't want people to think I am not religious from this article and am bashing religion, I just think it has no place in government and thus not in schools. If someone wants their kid to learn that the "fundemental version" of the Bible so much, put them in those Christian "Brainwashing" Academies in every town. I went to one of these schools and when the topic of evolution came up, I asked a simple question. How can you explain dinosaurs and why are they dated from 65 million years ago which is in direct contradiction to the Bible through which Bible scholars estimate the age of the Earth at about 6k years? First off, the great brainwasher himself tells me that dinosaurs are, in fact, in the Old Testament. There is an animal described as a "Behemoth" (by the description, it is clearly someone who saw an elephant for the first time) and this clearly describes the Dinosaurs. To add to that, the reason they aren't around is that they were wiped out in the flood (even though the Bible says that Noah took two of EVERY animal alive at the time onto his ship (no contradiction there I guess)). Well, if anyone else finds it hard to believe that Noah was fending off his wooden ship from unrelenting T-rex and Raptor attacks with sling shots and sharpened sticks, evolution may be the theory for you. That constitutes valid science as far as my brainwashing teachers were concerned. Just because something is written in the "prevailing" mythology happening in such a way does not by any means qualify as 100% scientific proof. Try proving your BS scientifically instead of ALWAYS falling back on "It's in the Bible," "It says that right here in the Bible," "the Bible proves it right here," then maybe I'll be a little more sympathetic. I guess its a good thing that the Roman mythology isn't that popular anymore or orgies would be more socially acceptable.

I can prove evolution to you, all I need is bacteria. Since they divide every 8-20 minutes, scientists have proven that their DNA changes overtime leading to speciation (the key for evolution). Too bad you selfish conservative Christian pricks. Stop forcing your religion on a society that may claim to be Christian but doesn't need it to saturate 100% of their daily lives like you assholes. The reason there is a separation of church and state is not everyone believes what you do and they shouldn't be FORCED TO because MAYBE YOU ARE WRONG. Kansas wants to force religion on students, which is illegal, don't need a Bible to tell me that. If you want that so bad, fucking move to Utah.

Religion is a good thing. It is a standard set of morals that every one can and should live by. What is wrong with love thy neighbor, respect your parents, don't murder? Nothing. Like all other things, it becomes corrupted when people take it literally or abuse it for power.
